Yeah, and its actually WI in that photo, but the scenery is similar to what you'd find along Rt. 20 near Galena. Id also like to add that if anyone makes the drive along Rt. 20 from Freeport to Galena, do so in mid-October when the colors are raging. Its beautiful beyond belief.

Their's a few Illinois Scenic byways I want to drive on my cycle.

The first one being Shawnee Hills, I love southern IL and it's rural beauty. You start from Mitchellsville, take ILL 34 all the way to cave in rock at the Ohio River. It looks to be about 33 miles.

The other being route 66, basically Chicago to the Mississippi River, it's about 436 miles in IL.

I think the IL Ozarks are down in the southern part of the state. It's 200,000 acres. I think you would like it too.
