Of course, it's easier than cutting the fat out of the pork.

Amazing...before you know it your whole paycheck will go to taxes and nothing will be left upon which to support your family. When the people you tax so heavily leave your state you will have less to doll out to pork projects.

One of the big problems I see is that the people in the central and southern parts of the state are not paying their fair share in the area of education, we needs a more balanced system that allows ALL residents to share that responsibility.

"Gov. Pat Quinn signed into law Monday a $31 billion statewide construction program for crumbling roads, mass transit and schools that will be paid for by legalizing video poker, raising fees on motorists and boosting taxes on candy, beauty products and booze....

...The measure would allow bars, restaurants and social clubs to have up to five video gambling machines each. They must be in an area accessible only to patrons 21 or older, and the state would collect 30 percent of the revenue, which is estimated to generate about $300 million a year when the program is fully implemented...

...But taxpayers can expect their pocketbooks to start taking extra hits later this summer. On Sept. 1, wine, liquor, beer, candy, bottled tea and beauty products such as dandruff shampoo will be taxed more. And in mid-October, drivers can expect to pay $30, up from $10, for a driver's license...

...License plate fees will increase from $79 to $99 for the registration year beginning Jan. 1, and car title transfers will jump from $65 to $95."

If Quinn runs for election he will not get my vote. Time to kick the dems out of the governors seat.
