Default City of Chicag Tax
If I live in a suburb of Chicago but purchase a vehicle at a Chicago dealership must I pay a City of Chicago sales tax in addition to state and local suburb tax?

Is that true? I thought the rule in Illinois is that you pay the taxes for where you live when you buy a car. I'm not 100% sure about this, though.

No, the tax is based on the address where the vehicle is registered, not on where it is purchased.
