Default Should I live in eastern Missouri, or western Illinois?

I was wondering this, because I'm probably gonna go to Godfrey's community college next year, and I was wondering what would be the safest cities to live in, in this area. Would living in Missouri be better than living in or around Godfrey? I'd also rather not drive more than 30 minutes to get to the college. One of the towns I was curious about is Florissant, MO. Would that be a good city to live in? I'd like to be somewhere in between, Godfrey, IL and O'Fallon, MO, because I have a friend who lives in O'Fallon. I'd have to rent an apartment so I'd be able to afford an apartment around $530 or less. I'd love any info I could get. Nobody responded when I posted this in the Missouri forum.

Don't you have to live in the community college district to attend that college? Or at the very least, do so without paying a heavy "out-of-district" tuition rate?

I don't know this for sure, BUT... I think once you live in the community college district, you pay the in-district tuition rate right away; there's no one-year waiting period for residency like a traditional state-wide university. But like I said, I'm not totally positive about that. Something to look into, as it might influence your decision as to where to live.

hmm, that's interesting. I'll try looking into that. If you're right about that, living there instead, sure would help with the tuition costs. thanks

Why would you want to commute to college when it is unneccessary? Godfrey is a nice, safe small town. I definately would not recommend Florrisant.

Where are you moving from?

LCCC is a nice campus and all but I guess it depends on your major and reason for going there. What is your budget? Where do you plan to work? ON campus? off campus?

I live in Jerseyville and lots of ppl drive from here to LCCC You might be able to find a studio apartment cheap here. When you go to St. Louis area you will pay more and have a higher crime area.

You will be paying out of district rate if you are not from this general tax paying area.

I use to work for LCCC ..and I went to college there as well!
