CollinsvilleRES32 is on a distinguished road
I have been a resident of collinsville and All I have to say to you is that it is the most down to earth place that I have lived. I grew up in Indiana and relocated out here to take care of my wifes grandparents. The first place that we moved to was here to Collinsville. It has all the amnities that one would want accept for a mall and that is only a few miles away. The people here are kind and accept everyone for who they are not who they are with. East Stlouis is its own town and is far enough away that you don't have to worry about them. The Police here are friendly as well. They come when they are called and they do their jobs to the best of their ability. The neighborhoods here are nice and clean for the most part. Good luck on your move and hope that you like it when you do decide to relocate here.

txaggies, being a recent graduate, I am only assuming you are young - so why the suburbs? Have you thought of living in the city yet, or are you working on the "east side" (Illinois suburbs) and working there?

My favorite city on the east side is Fairview Heights. It is typical suburbia, 10 minute drive to Collinsville, everything within 5 minutes of your house, and right on the interstate so only a 15 minute drive to the city. If you want, I could get you the number of my former landlord. He was the best landlord I've ever had and his nice townhomes, at least a year and 3 months ago, rented at $650/mo for a 2br.

I just got back from a visit to Collinsville and really couldn't find any housing I liked. I did find something in downtown St. Louis that seemed appealing (Cambridge Heights). It is about 12 miles from my office in Collinsville and I figure traffic shouldnt be too bad because when I'm leaving downtown the heavy traffic should be on the opposite side. Any feedback?

I lived in the area for a while when going to SIUE, I paid around 350 a month living with room mates in Glen Carbon.
