Destroyed?. This is still the #1 choice of most high school kids in illinois and even parents as they save so much money vs private..

Most schools have lower admission standards for athletes, out of state students (helps pay for the University) etc. So, a small percentage of students got in with political clout...not right but not exactly the end of the world.

Most major universities have had similar scandals...especially those with successful sports programs. You really aren't making very lucid points now.

Yep, graduated 92' with 8k of total debt...paid it off in a year...haven't looked back.

If you think other state schools don't have politicians pulling for admissions of some students into school then you are seriously off base. Even if the students get in based on politically clout they still have to make their own way in the University. This had nothing to do with academics, and it won't do anything to the University's reputation because they have managed to keep it rather quiet outside of the state.
