Question Looking for apartment in or around bartonville, il

I will be relocating to the Peoria area probably in Feb. 2010. Does anyone have any information regarding Timberlane Apartments in Peoria? What kind of neighborhood etc? Don't want to be living in a high crime area next to a bunch of crack/meth heads. Would actually prefer something west of Peoria in Hanna City or west of there on Illinois 116. Thanks.

Timberlane is in a very decent area of NW Peoria. It is not too far from shopping. malls restaurants or access to I-74, 474, US 150, plus all the major N-S arteries in Peoria. Timberlane units are fairly priced, plus short term lease units may be available. It is pet friendly on a case by case basis. It is a decent location, but not terribly convenient if you fly often. Short of living in Bartonville, no location in Peoria is particularly convenient to the airport.

Thanks for the response. I thought Timberlane looked pretty good. I will be working at or near the airport. So is traffic the issue or something else? Also do you have any recommendations for apartments in Bartonville. My only concern with that was the proximity to the river, being on the floodplain...

Nonononono; not even remotely possible. Timberlane and the airport are high above, and miles away from, the rive banks Peoria is not nearly as flat as it looks on a map, nor prone to flooding due to the way it was laid out. It would be a true anomaly if the river were to leave its banks and completely cover the 7 steep hills within the county with a wall of water. The entire federal, city and county court systems, 3 hospitals, medical school, law offices, financial center, and the whole of the city built beneath the hills would be wiped out. Traditionally, when the river floods, the area most affected In Peoria is between the river and Washington Street. I know of no time in the last 75 years that IL 29 (NE Adams Street) was closed due to flooding - unless the sewer system failed. The airport is west of Adams Street in Bartonville several miles.

The airport was laid out in the middle of nowhere to accommodate future growth. There has never been any real *direct* route to the airport. I do not fly. However, friends that do seem to favor the route off 474 - that is not far from Timberlane. It will be considerably closer than driving to the airport via Bartonville and Garfield Hill, Smitfield Road, etc..

I have not lived in Bartonville for 60 years. I do have a cousin that was in the process of remodeling a home for his family. If it is finished his home may be available to rent. If interested I can check. It will take a few days to find him.

Timberlane is a pretty decent apartment complex, the rent is a bit more than some other complexes but there's no really worry about crime/safety there. It's located in a decent school district if you have children. It's also only a 10 - 15 min drive from the airport.

Traffic is RARELY ever a problem in Peoria. Instead of rush hours, we have rush minutes. Maybe about 15 min in the morning & afternoon where traffic only kind of gets heavy. Otherwise there's never really a problem unless there's an accident or construction.

Peoria, Bartonville & many of the surrounding communities are mostly built on hills and bluffs so flooding isn't a great issue. When the Illinois River floods, really only the houses and buildings right along the river have a problem.

I've never really looked for housing in Bartonville, so unfortuantely I don't have any apartment suggestions.

The nice thing about Timberlane is you can take a short term lease while you look for the perfect location. You won't be locked into a year lease. If you want to spend the money there are larger, more upscale apartments with covered parking, too.

Give yourself and extra 30 minutes to get to work until you learn the best route. There is one other route where you drive to the south side of Peoria that might work, but I am sure there is a better way.

If you Timberlane, the easiest way for you to begin is to follow War Memorial (US 150) to Glen Avenue. Turn west (left) and follow US 150 to the I-74-474 exit EAST toward Bloomington. You will see the airport exit Right off 474. Follow the signs.

Another way is to go East on Sterling to the bottom of the hill. Turn Right onto Farmington Road to Creek Road which is the last left turn at the bottom of Farmington Road Hill. I believe there is light there now. Follow it to Harmon Highway and once you cross that intersection follow the signs to the airport. Part of Harmon Highway in the City of Peoria was renamed Martin Luther King Drive - don't be confused over it. If you get turned around, don't worry, MLK ends at Western Aenue on top of Western hill. On the drivers side at that corner you will see a large building. It is the Mariott Hotel. Turn Left to return to Farmington Road and the bottom of Sterling Avenue hill.

Peoria is very easy to drive in, but you can go in circles until you become familiar with the county roads that are more commonly used. .

Timberlane is one of three complexes this company owns. It off the intersection of US !50/War Memorial Drive and Allen Road. Sam's Club is on 150 and Walmart is off Allen Road.

Although Barlonville ajoins the southern border of the City of Peoria, it is not easy to get to the airport from Peoria. IF you are going to work at Walrmart, Timberland Apt. s a great location It's in between both malls, near 5 grocery stores, doctors, after-hours clinc, plus a half dozen shopping centers. In a three mile radius of these apartments. You can get an apartment for as little as $450 and you can get a short lease.

If I knew where you were going to work, I might be able to suggest a better location. There are a ton of businesses in from one end of Allen Road to the end. .

Nice, you gave wrong directions.
Exiting Timberlane Apts (turn right) to a right turn onto Sterling turn right onto I74 West. 2 miles later, take I474 East (really South) to the Airport Road exit. 10- 15 minutes tops. There will be no traffic to be concerned with.
