Default History of Wenona?

Need info on Wenona, especially the home we live in..I know its OLD, since they couldn't give us an exact date as to when built except to say Pre1900. I have seen the map of wenona and we can find our farm and the original owners name, but thats it..nothing else. I have tried everywhere online...

I was told that the original owner was a member of the House of Representatives ( Mr. Nat Moore) and also a farmer ( was told this was a dairy farm at one time).

Does anyone know where I can do some research based on my address or any other way to find info?

Any ideas will be appreciated!
Thxs

What house do you live in? I grew up in Wenona. I don't know if I have any information, but I'm interested in hearing more. Did you try tracing back the deed to your house? All the real estate transactions should be on file at City Hall. Also the County Courthouse in Lacon may have land records. Good luck.

IL attained statehood in 1818. The county courthouse should have a paper trail back to the original purchaser - providing the courthouse and all records were not destroyed in a fire. And the local title company should be able to create an abstract for you. It will be pricy but perhaps well worth your investment. Most of the old abstracts have been replaced by Title Warrany or??? The title company warrants the merchantability of the ttle on the house. If there is an error, the title company reissues a corrected warranty at their expense.
