Default What are the best places to go fishing between Champaign and Charleston?

I live between Champaign and Charleston and I want to start fishing. I'm not interested in a big circular lake, they're boring. I'm interested in rivers. Maybe some sites that allow for camping too.

Ive had good luck on the Fox River (Im not that familiar with the region youre asking about) believe it or not. Ive pulled small muskie, LARGE flatheads and channel cats (one snapped my 20lb line), largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, perch and bluegill, etc, etc. Ive also heard that the Illinois River has some MONSTER striped bass as well as huge cats.

Sounds good. I'm not confined to the area between Charleston and Champaign, it's just that I'd be able to fish in that area more often. Thanks.

Homer Lake and Clinton Lake both usually are good for a few bass and other miscellaneous fish. And both are only about 20 minutes or so from Champaign. Also, Lake Charleston used to be a good spot when I went to school there have you tried any of these?
