Hello everybody. I just got back from visiting relatives in Peoria for Christmas, where I am going to move back to in six months. I had a question, however.

Is there any legal limit as to how many pets you can have within one home? I know that in PA, where I live currently, there are laws that you can only have X number of animals per square foot. The reason I ask is that my relatives' neighbors has hundreds (yes hundreds) of animals in her home, mostly rodents. If the wind blows the right way you can even smell them pretty bad. There's an older lady who lives there with her retarded brother or other relative but other than that nobody ever goes inside or out of the home. I don't even know them and I'm concerned as to how they would care for that many animals. The house looks pretty run down from the outside but nobody in my family's ever been inside. Who would I report this situation to?

I believe there is. My sister was not allowed to take in my grandparents' cat because she reached her max at four. What part of Peoria did you see this in?

I believe the city limit is 5 and each must be registered with the city. As to the neighbor contact the Peoria Health Department, Animal Control and the Police. The owner may be too ill to care for self or animals. Animas that are livinging in what is considered inhumane conditions are removed. I would not think this person would have rodents unless he has snakes to feed.

The only place you woould normally smell excerment is near an animal feed lot or a zoo facility. . .

yeah there's laws on the limit. and make sure to register your animals w/ the city b/c if they get out and the city catches them you will get nailed w/ fines! my pug dog managed to weasel out the back gate and i found her in the alley but not before a bu police officer did. $250 later she was good to go. i think it's like $30 to register a dog w/ the city if they are up to date on their shots and stuff. wayy better than the fines.
