I'm sure there's some positions out there for us near-graduates, but it really depends on what you went to college for...

Default jobs

Are you looking for a college job like teachers assistant or just an entry level job for a recent grad?

If your looking to live in the city there's obviously alot of jobs in the loop, river north has a lot of companies in the internet advertising/marketing/pr arena.

Some places off the top of my head that hire a lot of new grads is CDW which is right across the street from Union Station, mainly sales job selling computer equip and electronics. I've known some people who work there, its a tough job, base of about 25k plus commission but the commission structure isnt great, I knew a buddy who made a 40k sale and make like $2.31 in commission because of how their commission is structured.

Chicago Tribune also hires a lot of entry level people to sell advertising space nad also job ads for career builder, again its a tough jbo basically cold calling and not a huge starting salary.

You may want to consider the burbs, specifically a burb with a metra station. That way you are open to finding a job in the city and taking the metra in or there could be jobs in the burb. Schaumburg area has a lot of jobs for entry level jobs, Naperville,Lisle, Oakbrook area also has a lot of companies headquarters, off the top of my head sara lee, conagra, tellabs, lucent, porsche, etc
