Default East St. Louis.......

What are the nice parts of the city and I noticed that there are still about 300-400 White people that live there. Is there an area of town that most of that population is concentrated in?

East St. Louis
nice parts

Does...not...compute...

Also, there's nothing saying that the white people are going to be all in the "nice" part of town. The poverty there seems to be pretty universal.

I didn't say that. I asked if there was an area of concentration where most are.

Also, I've seen some neighborhoods that appear to be somewhat nice from pictures, but I was seriously wondering if there are some legitimately nice areas of the city. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:
Built St. Louis: East St. Louis
Built St. Louis: East St. Louis
Built St. Louis: East St. Louis - Central South
Built St. Louis: East St. Louis

Alright, sorry about that then. Looking at the pictures, it's hard to tell. I know a few charities and programs have put up decent housing in East St. Louis, but there's not telling if it'll stay that way or how long it'll be til things start degenerating. Hopefully this kind of help brings the city a little bit forward, but it's still not somewhere I would willingly live.

Ugh, not exactly what the region needs, but it's happening all around the US. They also voted last week to require teachers to work til they are 67 in IL in order to draw full pension. I don't care one way or another really because I plan to take my retirement into my own hands (looonnnnggg way off), but that will probably drive some prospective teachers away...

OP, you've got to realize, East St Louis is infamous among Illinoisans, much like the South Side of Chicago. The difference is the South Side has redeemable qualities, and East St. Louis doesn't. Speaking from experience of living nearby/knowing people who live there, East St. Louis isn't even a place to visit. Once.

White population or not, poverty and crime crosses all races and creeds in that place.
