Red face bi-racial family moving to Rantoul
We are a bi-racial family moving to Rantoul. Hubby is Haitian and I American. Can you tell me how we might be received in Rantoul or Urbana? In general are there places to avoid in Illinois for a bi-racial family?

I am African-American and my fiance is biracial. We have lived in Rantoul for about a year now, I lived in Champaign-Urbana for most of my life. You wont have any problems in Urbana. Rantoul is smaller and there are some whites here who might treat you a little differently but I don't think it's anymore than you might see in other places. People here are generally friendly and have a slight southern mentality. I hope your move goes smoothly!

Good luck to you....very small town. Seems very mixed to me. I visited a few times.
