You sure don't act like it. With what I've read of yours, you have been saying all about where you live and where you work, nothing about any other areas so it makes it really hard to believe you have seen any place other than where you currently live/work.

As mentioned before, not my first choice, but Indiana is surprisingly very good, and has a lot to offer...
Sand dunes, border of a great lake, close to a few major cities, historical sites, festivals, rivers, bluffs, caves, springs, farm fields golden with various crops, rich sport heritage, good people, tasty and unique vittles, interesting architecture, rolling glaciated hills, etc.
True, it doesn't have true mountains, the seashore, the canyons of the west, or such, but it has the above items in a quiet, serene manner...
With a positive attitude, and open eyes, a person can find good here, IMHO.

Is Indiana a boring cesspool of nothingness?? For the most part, yes. I used to live in Missoula, Mt and Santa Cruz, Ca and it just seemed like everyone was out doing something (running, playing frisbee in the parks, riding bikes, playing sports, hanging out in shops) With the exception of a few towns in Indiana (most notably, Bloomington) it seems as if people here live in caves.....I currently live and go to school in Muncie, and even though it is just as podunk as the rest of the state, people are exceptionally nice here. Which definately makes up for the podunk-ness, and the backwards conservatism.

Interpol76 with what you've shared thus far, your advice is unobjective, uninformed, and isn't remotely helpful to people looking to potentially relocate to Indiana. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but you've shown that you do not know what you are talking about. You've devalued your own opinion quite effectively. I suggest you take your venting to another forum or sub-forum more appropriate & more receptive to your ideas.

Uhhhhh...isnt the title of the topic "Does anyone else not like living in Indiana"??? And, you expect people not to vent about why they don't like Indiana with a topic like that??

I'm with ya Interpol (killer band too!). I hate when people try to dictate others opinions, especially in a thread titled "Does anyone else not like living in Indiana?", negativity should be expected. This is where potential future hoosiers go to find the downside of this wonderful boot.
There are many many things that people will like about Indiana (especially if your a family person), but there are also many things that one should know so they are not coming here with a brighter picture than the frame holds.
Balance. People should know the positives and negatives and since this is America the citizens have the right to know both, even if others may disagree.

Heres some handy little stats to remember also when people tell you that big cities are more "dangerous."

Quite an active thread.
I think I said something here before to the extent of most anywhere is what you make of it. Most everywhere is about the same. Sometimes it seems there's a overflowing of "dumb," but you'll find most of that dumb is flowing at us through NYC and LA, more specifically the TV tube. America is dumbed down and the only way to change that is
1. Increase your own education and
2. Find a good center of dumbed down people and fight educate them.
Here in Anderson, we find some of the worst scholastic tests in the country even thought Indiana has raised them considerably over the last ten years. The way to turn this around is by purveying the truth about that fact and about what is going on around them.
Indiana is as good as any other place. It has its own beauty. Some of it is in its people. Not all of us are rocket scientists, but there are quite a few friendly folks.
Indiana: Be all you can be...
