Anderson - what is it like?
I'm considering relocating to the greater Indianapolis area and a few towns have caught my eye. One of them is Anderson. It looks like a nice community with low crime rate, but as someone said everything looks rosy on the internet.
Can anyone tell me more about it? Are there bad areas of Anderson to avoid?
What about Muncie, is that a good or bad place to live...and why?
Thanks very much!

no anderson probly isnt a good choice its full of urban decay crappy neighborhoods junky houses and lawns that havent been mowed in years.
Areas like Pendleton Lapel are good choices with extremly low crime rates. Pendleton has a huge park for the size of the town and a public pool and library. But your best bet is to tour the pendleton, lapel and anderson area.

There are a lot of people who work in Anderson and live in Fishers.

Fishers is a very good area on the far north side of Indy. Also, Lawrence not far from the Geist is very nice.
Greenwood to the south of Indy is very solid. Avon to the west is also a good area with many nice homes.

I lived in Anderso, I would definately recomend it as a place I would voluntary move to if I had a choice. Poor schools. racial tensions, More crime than you may expect, urban decay. Definately a big No!Pendleton, where I have also lived would be a much better choice . Good access to comuter routes, good schools , lower taxes. Was very rural till a few years ago. Still has a little of that attitude left, though is becoming "up scale"

Anderson=Trashy
Greenwood=Cluttered,Trashy
Lawerence=Trashy, Ghetto, Redneckish
Pendleton=So So
Anderson=Trashy,
Anderson=Trashy, (have I made my point, lol)
Fishers=Snooty, cluttered, full of soccer moms
Carmel=Snooty, Snooty, Full of spoiled rotten kids who don't get punished for crimes they commit
Geist=Pretty ghetto in parts, over rated homes, (Lots of money for homes that aren't all that)
Franklin=Nice
Whiteland=Trashy, but quiet

little too simplified
as far as the last post goes. i agree that anderson is probably not where you wanna go. i go there every week for business and they are nice people but they have had a lot of large plant closings (GM suppliers) etc. I am in fishers which is one of the fastest growing towns in the midwest (23rd on the Money magazine best places to live) if you want a more "rural area' as mentioned pendleton is a nice bedroom community to the northeast as well as greenfield to the east. Hard to pick a bad suburb of indy. greenwood/mooresville/avon/brownsburg/plainfield areas are all nice with good schools and homes that are more in the 75-200K range. Houses/taxes in north suburbs - zionsville/carmel/fishers/geist will be more in the 200K+ range - hope that helps.

Noblesville seems very charming, although in recent years has undergone quite a boom and traffic sometimes is problematic.

Anderson
I just moved to Anderson about a year and a have ago. I came from a very small town outside of Middletown. I used to come to Anderson to get away from the "country scene". I liked comming here until I moved here. I am so over this town. The people here are really messed up. Well atleast on this side of town. I live behind St Johns Hospital and I figured it would be nice. Little did I know. The poeple around here are theifs and "crack heads", they are rude and don't care about anything but themselves. The yards around here look like they haven't been taken care of for years. I don't like it here anymore. The people around here ruined it for me and my family. We are ready to sell and GET OUT. I would not recommend moving over on this side. Maybe up by the eastside bowling alley on the eastside of town.Muncie is about the same. I never lived there, but my cousin did and she moved back here. So that should say something. Yorktown is better. I came from out that way. About 5 miles south of yorktown, Middletown. But every place has it's good and bad parts. I just recommed living out in the country. That is where I want to be.
