Default Louisville Ky Area/Jeffersonville

My wife and I are coming to Louisville early next week to search for housing. I start a new job there 7/16/07. I have heard about the commute over the bridge to Louisville, but I will be working during non-traffic hours. Is the Indiana side better than the Louisville side? We are looking to rent a nice home (3 bed/2 bath) in a safe area in the $1000 or less range. We like going to the movies, gym, food places, etc. We are african-american so we are also looking for the most "non-racist" place we can find.

S. Indiana is suburban. Nowhere in the Louisville metro is any more racist than anywhere else I have seen. Indiana is cheaper, and the brdiges are not bad. The KY side is nicer.

Default louisville

I see this thread is from last month and I have no way of knowing I guess if you will come back to look for new posts. But I might say something of interest to someone else that is looking for Louisville info.
I hope you like living in Louisville when you get here. You might find that you like it in the East end. Lots of places to eat and near the big shopping centers. If that's too pricey then try towards the Bardstown road area. It’s quaint lots of eateries and antique stores.
Downtown is risky. Forget the south end entirely. Think about going to SouthEast Christian Church. It has a huge congregation and very diversified.
If you don't want to join it's ok, but you might find lots of people who are friendly and get you settled in just fine. They have a fairly good cross section of people.
You can face, as you know prejudice anywhere you live for reasons beyond being African American. I wish you luck and hope you really enjoy it.
