Well, Howe is VERY small. It is even hard to get a sense of the 'town' because of its location. Let's start with the obvious, it is located right off the Indiana Toll Road. Thus, making it a hub for manufacturing facilities who want great access to main traffic arteries. The area is also known for the making of recreational vehicles with multiple manufacturing facilities. Basically, people in Howe either travel to Fort Wayne or Elkhart/Mishawaka for their major shopping or travel to Sturgis Michigan for the other stuff.

Where did you move from?

Thanks for the info.
From what I can tell, with only one or two factories here in Lagrange County still open, the recession has hit the area pretty hard.

Downtown Howe is like a ghost town, with most of the business buildings empty.

Might explain the low rent in the area.

I moved here from Auburn, IN.

Lagrange county is basically ALL RV factories, which was devastated by the recession, Neighboring Elkhart County was also hit very hard. Believe it or not, this area has seen an uptick in business and it will prosper once again because of the Indiana toll road and the amount of manufacutring facilities that have nice conditions. Many people in the Howe area live in the country and the area is heavily Amish.
