Irish scene in North Judson??? If you want the Irish scene, you'll have to hoof it to Chicago. The University of Notre Dame isn't too far away either. You could check out the Indiana Dunes in Chesterton, or do some interesting close out shopping at Bailey's in Toto, which is very close to North Judson. If you like gambling, Michigan City has a nice casino and there's a great outlet mall there too.

North Judson?
I imagine you could watch some corn grow..and it is green like Ireland, but why the heck would you travel from Ireland to North Judson? Seriously, head straight to Chicago and perish those silly central Indiana thoughts.

Going to New York for 7 days, then down to DC for another 3 days, travelling up to visit friends in North Judson and taking in the scene in Chicago, altogether 12 days in Mid West, before flying back. Was just trying to find out about any good places of interest around IN,and some good Irish pubs in Chicago.Have been advised to be careful where to go to around the southside-but to be honest i would be directionally challenged anyhow!
At least the weather would be better than here, non stop rain now for over a week--Thanks for replies

There's a very nice Irish neighborhood on the southside of Chicago called Beverly. Other than that, the southside is very very very hit or miss. Hyde Park, where the U of Chicago is located is a cool neighborhood on the southside too. Honestly, there's not much to do in North Judson.

To wit: Pub in NW Indiana
If good beer is your destination, then you absolutely MUST visit the Three Floyds BrewPub in Munster on your way to Chicago. It is demonstrably one of the best breweries in the US.

Domergurl gave you most of what there is to do in northwest Indiana. I am from the Michigan City area, and the casino boat is called Blue Chip Casino. The casino is about a mile or so from the public beaches in Michigan City and Lighthouse Place (the outlet shopping mall). There is a beach/dunes between Michigan City and Chesterton...Mount Baldy is pretty cool. I am not too familiar with all of the Irish neighborhoods in Chicago...but I know there are some cool hangouts there. But as everyone has stated, in North Judson you will see lots and lots of cornfields. Anyway, have a good trip!

If your looking for something to do in North Judson forget it. That little town has absolutely nothing. I don't think they even have a real restaraunt.
