Default I like the South side of Indy

I live in Franklin township... we moved here 4 years ago and have enjoyed it a great deal. Awesome school system .... my husband is Greek and we haven't had any problems with people here.
Its nice and quiet (safe) and we are minutes from downtown. The best of both worlds.

Good luck...

Ok guys, I'm really thankful for every one, god bless you people you really helped me to have a start point.
So far three areas mentioned here and on other posts too, Greenwood to the south, Avon to the west and Carmel been mentioned like it is the top on the north.
these areas have almost the same distance from the downtown where IUPUI (almost 12 mls.)
I searched rent.com, mynewplace.com, forrent.com, and apartmentsearch.com for places in these areas the rent was vary from US$ 650 to US$850 actual amounts between these two amounts so here I am single father with two kids coming to attend IUPUI, my first concern is Safety, then school for my son (5 years old) and then commute, I'm kind of home guy and I like to play with ma kids SO what do you suggest guys

Oh Jnx where is Franklin township exactly, I couldn't find it on the map,,,,thanks
Again thanks for every one

Franklin Township is on the south side of Indy.. in Marion county.
It has some really nice areas and an awesome school system ... it has some areas where the housing is cheaper but the areas are so so...
Google maps .... Southport Road .. to the west of Southport Road is a the town of Southport ,... as you travel further west to 31 its starts to look run down (not sure about safety). If you travel east of 65 you will see apartments on that road ... Lakes of Windsor and Overlook at Valley Ridge just to name a few.
As you look at the map... travel south on Emerson Ave toward Greenwood and you will even more apartments. It takes you out of Franklin township but still in a nice area. Its only 30 minutes tops from the Countyline Road (Greenwood) and Southport Road (Indy) area to downtown to IUPUI... my hubby works down by there. If you travel north on Emerson you will see more apartments the city of Beech Grove... It has it good and bad areas but they are working on reviving the area too. Its more of a small town feel.
Here are some links for ya ....Hope this helps a bit

When you are interested in an area .. check it out on Live Local Search it lets you see the area around the apartments or rental houses.
There are some rental houses that are affordable.
