I am in TN, and planning to move to Indiana. I am looking to move either to Martinsville, Bloomington, Indianapolis, Greenwood. A place close to Martinsville is where I need to be. I am a masters level social worker and looking for a job. Anyone have any suggestions of places in any of these areas? What are apartment prices there? Any help anyone could offer would be awesome!

I no longer live in Indiana but did until 5 years ago. I am also a social worker and found getting a job in the field very difficult. There are few jobs in the area and most jobs are heard about from others in the field. You can always look online at the Star (indianapolis newspapaper) which should have the listings for everywhere but Bloomington.

Default Job

Thank you. I hope you are wrong about it being difficult to find a job. I am hoping to relocate there by December. My fiance got a job in Martinsville so hopefully I will find something in a surrounding town.

Indianapolis - Marion County Public Library is our local library website and they have a link to Indy data. Contains a huge amount of info on government, working, living, human resources. It might help in some way get you started. I know your field must be employed in some social service organizations and/or hospitals. There are nine major hospitals in downtown Indy. Includes a huge VA hospital, etc.

Check out www.usa.opm.gov (broken link) for the searchable database of government jobs right now. Also try to contact human resources at the VA hospital. Should be able to get some info online.

Also there may be links on the different university databases but I have not checked them out. iupui is the one downtown Indy and there is Indiana University and Purdue University.
