Thanks, Scott! That's kind of what I'm looking for! I love that there are sidewalks in the neighborhood. It'll be so nice for the kids to ride bikes and go on walks. It's funny, there aren't sidewalks in VA, so kids ride bikes and walk in the street and these are the WORST drivers I've ever seen! Not a good combo!

Most of the new subdivisioners here don't even bother using the sidewalks. They just use the streets. Heh. I guess it'll take some transplants to teach the natives what those strips of concrete are used for.

REALLY? In MI, we *love* our sidewalks!! It's a big deal to live in an area that's walkable with sidewalks. It's not like we could really go anywhere big, just to small locally owned shops, but we walked the kids to school. My kids loved being able to ride their bikes w/o having to worry about cars!!

Are you gonna tell me next that no one swims in lakes there? In VA, NO ONE swims in lakes, rivers, streams. That's strictly for boating. Pools are for swimming.

up in carrington meadows the streets with houses built already have sidewalks but the new streets that are just now being built don't have sidewalks. cause the owner of the house has to keep up the sidewalk. But we have a 3/4 mile walk path around the pond here so not to bad. Don't know what you are looking for but we have house ranging all over and with all the builders building here

Yeah, that's definitely part of the deal! We lived on a corner, so had lots of sidewalk to clear when it snowed which was frequently!

We're just looking for a good rental. I'd honestly rather a house on some land, more country-like. My ideal would be 2 acres- at least 4 bed, 2 bath. There aren't many rentals at all, unfortunately. We're told we'll live there for at least a year and then perhaps move onto MI if an office opens there. So we aren't looking to buy... but it is SO tempting with the lack of rentals and low house prices!!

I grew up swimming in lakes, but I wouldn't suggest swimming in the subdivision retention basins what with all the lawn chemicals and street run-off. Maybe if you befriend a local farmer or two, y'all might get invited to take part in some good old fashioned country fun.

We used to swim in the Ohio when I was real young. The only reason we stopped is because my mom contracted Hep A from it. But we do still swim in lakes.

Darmstadt (where Gracie's is) is a great area. I don't know a lot about Asbury Pointe, but for what you're looking for, a Jagoe home will be just fine. This area has never been rental heavy. Not sure why. I noticed the house I was thinking about when I posted last has occupants now, so...

From where you're looking, Walmart will be about a 10-15 minute drive. It's also a very nice area and you should be as safe there as any place.

I've also notice it being called Earle. I noticed it on a radio commercial about a year ago. It's my old stomping ground and I couldn't figure out why they're calling it Earle now. It was always Daylight/McCutchanville when I was younger. I think they're just trying to suck people into looking for Earle just to get them up to the fine food joints up there.

Hope your transition is smooth. I've experienced moving to a place you know next to nothing about and feeling apprehensive about it. Any other things you want to know about the E-ville area?

Local farmers make good neighbors.

Lol. Could be. I'm glad they're distinguishing themselves as Earle. Seems like once all the subdivisions started going in, anyone who got an 867 or an 868 exchange claimed they lived in McCutchanville.

Well, they have marketed themselves well since they started calling themselves Earle. I'm thinking it's probably always been Earle, just like Warrenton was here before Haubstadt but only the locals call it Warrenton, so it's good to be able to make the distinction now.
