My husband's sister is deathly afraid of flying, but we want to get together for a few days over Thanksgiving...I found Terre Haute to be close to the center for us to drive and meet. I read the avaerage daytime highs are 53-60 and lows are 34-38? I'm wondering if this would seem like a crazy thing to do to meet in a camping cabin for a couple days? Also if there's any activity to do around the area at that time?

I am from Terre Haute. I honestly don't suggest staying overnight in a camping cabin. You will freeze. November is also usually rainy there. Good
news is that there are plenty of motels that offer low rates. That would be my advice to you. Not much to do there, most people are heading to the mall during Thanksgiving to see Santa and for holiday shopping. Good Luck. |

I second what Suz said above - November weather in TH is quite unpredictable - you might hit the last beautiful, warm weekend of the fall, or the first harsh, snowy one of winter. If you are willing to risk it, you might check out cabin opportunities in Brown County, near Bloomington; you should also check out Turkey Run State Park - Inn. The park will be quite empty that time of year, but I find late fall and early winter a wonderful time to enjoy the outdoors. If none of that appeals to you, the new Hilton Garden Inn will be opening this fall, and is close to the ISU campus and other downtown attractions and restaurants. Support the local downtown merchants, and enjoy your visit!

Can you elaborate on "downtown attractions?"
