Question Moving near Muncie, IN

This winter, I'll be moving to Indiana for work. My job is in Muncie and I'm looking for a good place to live nearby. I'll be 28 and single, so I want a place that has a young, active community, but not necessarily a town filled with college students. I think that Indianapolis is too far to drive to work. I've been recommended Fishers, Carmel and Richmond, but I really don't know Indiana at all, so these might be poor choices. Any suggestions?

I'd try Fishers, but move as close to I-69 as possible, or else you'll be trudging through traffic. We lived close to Exit 10 near State Road 238 ... you may also want to try Noblesville.

I have friends who lived in Richmond for 2 years and found it to be very depressing and very divided. Plus, the commute to muncie from there would stink to high heaven.

Default You're moving here

Wow, you found a job in Muncie?
I am finding IN is so tight on jobs, I am looking out of state. Hate to leave though, but can't hold out here forever.

The north side of Indy (Fishers) is a lot of family neighborhoods and singles who bought houses and work hard to pay for them. Not sure how much of a party or single atmosphere there is. I would think maybe Carmel for accessible events but even better would be to live in Muncie and enjoy your working day and little commute and then when you want some action, to drive to Indy areas.

I'm getting relocated to Indiana by my company. I didn't find a new job there. I'm sorry to hear that the job market is so poor in Indiana. I'm originally from Michigan, so I know that the market is bad right now.

Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions. I'll check out the cities mentioned during my house-hunting trip. Any more suggestions are welcome.

So you have a job in Muncie? The first 2 sentences are little confusing to me, but then again, I'm easily confusible ... hey, I just made up a new word!

Sorry about the confusion.

I've been working for the same company for 5 years and will be relocated to Muncie. Other people seemed surprised that I found a job in Indiana, so I wanted to clear it up that I didn't find a new job, but a lateral move within the same company. Hope that clears things up.
