Default Possibly making a move to the Clarksville, New Albany, Jefforsonville Area

My wife and I may be relocating to the Clarksville/New Albany area and I was curious what area I should be looking at for buying a house. What are the good areas. We would like a neighborhood setting with not a lot of traffic, but near retail areas. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd also ask this in the Louisville forum since it's the central city

How much-ish are you willing to spend? There are a lot of great areas. Would you prefer an old (built before 1945), renovated home? An old home that has been kept in good condition? A not-as-old (60s/70s/80s), fairly standard home? A newer cookie cutter home? Urbanish neighborhood? Neighborhood that is a good distance from the "downtownish" areas?

We would be looking for an "not so old" house. SOmething built in the last 30-40 years and I think we would like to be in a more suburban type setting. My wife would love to be in a Ranch style home.

Check out the Oak Park area in Jeffersonville... lots of great homes. In Clarksville, look in the Blackiston Mill Rd/GreenTree/Veterans Pkwy area. In New Albany, focus on areas on the northside near I-265...usually just south of 265 will provide your best bet. Once you get near the hospital and points south in NA, homes become much older.

In New Albany check out the neighborhood just south of Peden Park, and a couple neighborhoods right behind Walmart (south of Mt. Tabor Rd., west of Charlestown Rd., north of Twin Oaks Dr.).
