Default Information about Ft Wayne?

One of the places we are looking into for final consideration for buying our new home is Ft Wayne. Are there any laws forbidding Pit Bulls within city limits (we own three dogs, one of which is a Brindle Pit Bull)? Also any information on jobs, crime stats, areas to avoid to live in would be great!

For the animal information here you go: City of Fort Wayne - City Ordinance

For the other information, Stats about all US cities - relocation info, maps, race, income, photos, education, crime, weather, houses, etc. is a good place to start of course, along Moderator cut: linking to competitors sites is not allowed Census Bureau Home Page . If you tell us a bit more about yourself it would be easier to provide more specific information.

Serious crime in the city of Fort Wayne is mostly contained in the southeast posrt of the city. If you look at a map of the city and draw a cross through the center, the southeast quodrant is where most of the violent crime takes place. Certainly there is crime throughout, but that is mostly property damage type crimes.

Here is a fun website to play around with. If you click on the left side, you can check into race, income, growth, crime of parts of the city. The nicest parts of fort Wayne are north and northeast or my favorite part southwest

A cool website - two things jumped out at me as being wrong - not huge things, but definitely worth mentioning:
#1 - There's a relatively new and huge outdoor mall on the SW side of town called Jefferson Pointe (on route 14). Omitting its existance is a mistake as it is a major destination like Glenbrook Square (a huge indoor mall on the north side of town on Coliseum Blvd).

#2 - The Fort Wayne airport flies direct to many locations - not just Chicago and Dallas Ft. Worth. Although not a Hub, you have a lot of fine destination choices including Tampa, Orlando, Vegas, Detroit, Cincinatti, Cleveland, Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta. The airport is located on the south-south-west side of Fort Wayne.

Hi, my hubby and our 2 boys are here in FW along with our baby (Pit bull) and (Persian) cat. No laws against our baby yet...they haven't had problems with this breed manily because there are not many fighting problems. WOW, this mean FW might have some smart dog owners...lol We are in the process of being stationed in South Carolina after hubby returns from Iraq in Nov, but have lived in FW for many years. STAY AWAY from the south part of town, many houses look very nice off Rudisill, but it's not the best place. We live closer towards the base by the airport, it's near Jefferson Pointe and a very nice place for a family. If you are well off (above average money)Southwest or Dupont is the place to be. My Mom lives off Dupont and it's a great area, but growing so fast. Our children attend Lindley Elementary and they are learning Spanish (still unsure as how I feel towards this, glad they are learning a 2nd language but they are so young 3rd and 4th grade, but also mad some homework is in Spanish and we cannot help them) Wow, I have talked enough...hope it helps though. I am glad to be getting out of The Fort (they call it) we are ready for a change!!

Default Current BSL proposal possible

I found this post while researching Indiana breed specific legislation. There is a dangerous dog input panel that is currently holding public hearings in regards to possibly banning pit bulls. The next hearing will be announced on 10/15/2007, the proposed date is 10/18/2007 but the time/location has not been released. Please consider attending if you're in the area. The scariest part of this is that many people do not know it is going on! The media has not picked up on it.
