Moving to Indiana (Portage, Chesterton, Hope: to rent, house, elementary schools)

Hubby has been moved into a new job. Closest we think we want to get is around Portage and Valporasio area. We are looking to rent until our house sells in Michigan. Any input on elementary schools and the area in general would be great. So far no luck in finding something.

Valpo has the best public schools in the area, Chesterton is also good.

What sources have you tried? What are you not 'having any luck' finding?
