Default Need some trip help to Syracuse area

I am trying to find out if their is a nice and inexpensive place to stay for perhaps a Friday and Saturday night somewhere in the area. Camping is fine with a tent or a small cabin, nothing fancy. My parents used to own 2 cottages on Dewart Lake and I havent been to the area in probably 20 years and am dying to see it again. I would also love to find out what there is to do in the area. Does North Webster still have some things to do? Is there still a fish hatchery at wawasee? The area i am more referring to is near defreese road. Perhaps something in Milford or Leesburg, Syracuse or North Webster.

Default Re:Syracuse/Dewart area-defreese road (landing)

Syracuse has some real nice bed and breakfast available. Quaker Haven has a campground at Dewart Lake. The fish hatchery has been covered over with a parking lot for the boat access. Chinese Gardens between Syracuse Lake and Wawasee Lake is only a faded memory too. Adventureland in North Webster was auctioned off to a developer. Our area isn't the secret gem that it used to be.
I grew up on the south side of Dewart Lake and now I live on the north side of the lake. I am a life long resident of Dewart Lake as I am now 41.
Where did your parents have their cottages? What were their names? Our families may know each other! I grew up in the old "Dewart Lake Hotel".
For now Dewart hasn't changed alot. There are a few big houses now from "rich"lakers that can't afford a million dollars for a lot on Wawasee.
I would enjoy hearing from you!
