I have a friend who has two nieces moving to Corydon. It sounds like a quaint (and I mean that in a very good way) place. Can anyone fill me in about it? I am considering moving somewhere and this sounded like a nice place. Is it a safe place? Are there jobs that pay enough to support yourself (I am in office work, secretarial)? What can you tell me?

I live about an hour away from Corydon, but my Dad used to live around the area and I visited him on the weekends. Corydon is a nice place- not sure about the crime rates, but I haven't really heard much. About the jobs- if you can't find anything that is actually in the town of Corydon, you could easily find a job in Louisville, KY. Not too long of a drive from Corydon, and there's tons of jobs in Louisville, if you just look around for them.

I know it's been six months or so since your last post, but I just found this forum.
I lived in Corydon for 30 years (14-44). I think it is a great place to live and raise kids. I have worked in Louisville for over 20 years, and until February commuted from Corydon every day. It is a safe place as far as violent crime goes, although Harrison County ranks extremely high as one of the major meth hotbeds of the country... As far as jobs go, you would more than likely have to focus your search on New Albany, Clarksville, Jeffersonville or Louisville. Most of the jobs in Corydon are blue collar or retail/service jobs. Most of the office jobs are gotten through the "who you know" system. The area is beautiful, and housing costs are lower even than Louisville (which is still pretty low when compared nationally). |
