I travel for work throughout the Midwest, so I know gas in the Indy area is more expensive than Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan and most of Illinois. Still, I was really surprised to see this report. Why is gas so expensive in Indiana?

This must be a misprint. I thought Mitch Daniels delivered us from evil.

Are you sure the thread wasn't supposed to be titled "Indiana home to nation's gas prices that will always be just a bit cheaper than Chicago's"?

..................sorry

State Monitoring Gas Price Increases - Newsroom - Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick

pretty much explains it.
However im going to wait a week or so. if gas prices dont come down by then. Then Mr. Atorney general needs to launch a massive investigation into price gouging.

I used to always fill my tank before I left Indiana, because gas was always cheaper here than my out-of-state destinations. Then probably about a year ago it seemed that our gas prices started to be consistently higher. So I started filling up out of state.

Just as an example, my parents live in Ohio and gas is always at least 20 cents per gallon cheaper there, sometimes almost 30 cents.

Big problem is when you have a guy like Jay Ricker who gives to both political parties. he can jack the prices where ever he wants them and not a word will be said.

It makes no sense. California has pollution controls that makes their gas more expensive, Cook county Illinois has more taxes that adds to their per gallon price. But Indiana?

Don't complain.

It is $4.65 a gallon on the Big Island of Hawaii (at least on the Hilo side, which is by far the cheapest).
Has not been below $4.15 for just over 3 years...
