The Most & Least Religious US States | Bible Belt & Most Religious Americans | LiveScience

Many claim that Indiana is ultra-religious and part of the Bible Belt. The results of this survey would appear to both confirm and contradict that viewpoint, depending on one's interpretation.

Unfortunately we do not know the methodology of this survey as they did not give any other than they allowed the respondent to choose to say how religious they were. Would be nice to know where they interviewed people, urban vs. rural. Also if they defined their categories to the respondents, age range, if they used equal numbers of male, female, older, younger, etc.

There is no hard and fast rule to religion that I can tell, but often in my own experiences I tend to find the older and more rural people to be more closed off to other opinions about religion. The young and more sub/urban tend to have a more open view when it comes to religion.

What I find silly about these type of polls is that we have a freedom of religion in this country, who cares what this poll indicates? The most religious person in Vermont could be more obnoxious than a very religious person in Utah.

Our country is officially secular. No official religion is declared, similar to no official language is declared. Our freedom of religion and freedom from religion is our constitutional right.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

we can do what we want with respect to our religious beliefs.

I agree with you; however, extreme religious right wingers would disagree with you there!

Yes, we do have freedom of religion however lets be completely honest, it is not secular: It is strongly Christian based.
There is also another saying "Freedom from religion." I've never had any Buddists, Hindu's or Jewish people knock on my
door nor did I hear any of them pouncing their values on the entire country. Also now and more importantly it comes
to How Christian Are You?
