I have been going back and forth to the Scottsburg area for a few years now as my stepson lives in Salem. I have to disagree with you. Some of the friendliest people I have ever met in my life are in Indiana. People who don't even know you offer advice, help whatever with no ulterior motive. I am from New England and am not used to this. We move out there next month (God willing all the sales of my house and the new house we bought go smoothly). The area may not be a mecca of culture or activity, but a short drive can take you to Louisville or Indy to get your fill of that. I will say it will be hard to get used to some of the backwards thinking (prejudice etc...)
But hey, sometimes it just takes one person to say "hey that's not cool" to make someone stop and think before they use negative words. I am looking forward to the change, and it is so beautiful there. I have never seen stars look the way they do out there.

The woman are predatory, rude and in competition with each other. Good jobs seem to be non-existant. In the two years I have been here I have found it hard to make any decent friends. I know you might blame this on my extreme negative attitude, but I have spent the last year putting my bitter attitude on hold in order to put on a positive front in order to expand my circle of friends. It is not working. This city is not very cultured or varied. Those things I could deal with if I had more friends. I had the pleasure of visiting West Va this week and I was impressed and plan on moving there in August. The people are extremely friendly and the scenery very beautiful. Who knows in two years I might be as negative towards West Va but I doubt it.
