Jobs in Indiana
Hello people,
I presently live in Pennsylvanian and work with a pharmaceutical comapny, I'm a trained Chemist and my wife is a Nurse. We are considereing moving to Indiana, but are concerned about my job security. Pls if anyone have information about job situations (i.e. Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Research science related ) for someone like me in Indiana I will greatly appreciate it. The only Phamaceutical company I know now is Lilly Eli. I will like to secure a job before actually moving. My wife ahould be able to get a job easily. Just in case u're wondering we decided to move becxause I've been convinced that its a good place to raise children.
Thank you very much and and God bless.

There's Cook in Bloomington ... I believe they are owned by Baxter. There's also Roche Diagnostics in Indy/Fishers. My former neighbor is a chemist for them and the wife who purchased the house we sold in Fishers over the summer is an RN who works for Roche too ...

here's a news story that might interest you:
Medco picks Indy over Louisville for 1,300-job operation - Business First of Louisville:
Quote:
One of nation's largest distributors of pharmaceuticals has opted to locate a new automated-dispensing pharmacy in Indianapolis instead of Louisville.
Medco Health Solutions Inc. will invest $140 million to open the new 318,000-square-foot pharmacy, which is slated to open early in 2009.
The facility will create about 1,300 jobs by its anticipated peak operation in 2012, according to a news release.
This will be Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based Medco's third automated-dispensing pharmacy; it's other are located in Willingboro, N.J., and Las Vegas.
Medco, which has 15,000 employees nationwide, was created by a 2003 spinoff from pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. Inc.
Last month, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority board gave the project preliminary approval for up to $30 million in state tax incentives for up to 10 years.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Medco up to $18.25 million in tax credits and up to $450,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans.
In the news release, the company said it chose Indiana in part because of the state's "business-friendly environment, modern transportation infrastructure, skilled labor pool and proximity to several schools of pharmacy, including Butler University and Purdue University."

Chicago is home to many pharm companies. Abbott Labs is one.
Have you tried a job search for Chicago? You could live in Northern Indiana, the commute is pretty easy, plus the cost of living is cheaper there.
