i was born in the early 90's in '94 in Kokomo, and recently have done a lot of reminiscing of things around town thats changed over time. If anyone has anything they remember from Kokomo from a long time ago even if its before the 90's feel free to share!

I know the thing anyone from then, even outside of town, that people would remember was the huge sky scrapping gas tower, the height of it alone was impressive, and when I'd drive from Greentown thats how i knew when i was getting close to Kokomo.

Also the old Kokomo Mall Karesotes and Markland Mall theaters, and just simply people actually going to Kokomo Mall at all, i remember US Factory Outlet being in there and always being fairly busy.

Or the old Hills over in the Maple Creast Plaza where Rural King is now, or the very short lives Aimes. Also when Walmart expanded for its grocery part and half the store often had that big curtain running down it. Or Cubs over by Walmart. Also Ponderosa which is one of my favorite restaurants still to this day, and drive all the way to Frankfort just to get it.

Or the big Steel Mill by Leeds Street that used to be right across from my house, the had to dig up my backyard because it was radioactive from it, and my iron levels as a kid was always through the roof. That and Washington Elementary School that i went to when i lived right by it, and now its not there any more.

Or nearby Greentown, i wasn't there for it, but I'm told Greentown used to have a movie theater, hotel, bowling alley, ect, and used to really be the place for people to meet up at. Or back when you Carmel and Westfield were just little small things and you couldnt really see them from US 31.

What things do you remember from in or around Kokomo from back then?

I've only been around Kokomo/Tipton since '98 but I also remember the big gas tower. As a newbie learning my way around it was always a welcome landmark to help me know where I was at. I hated to see it go.
