Any more comments would be appreciated. Is this road well-maintained during the winter? Snow plowed?

Due to unforeseen circumstances I did not make my trip on 231 to Lafayette last year. I want to bump up this thread, as I am planning the trip for this May.

The road is well maintained. If you want to make good time, take I65 to Indianapolis, take I74 to Crawfordsville, then 231 to Lafayette. Don't speed going through Linden or Romney, the police like to ticket for going over 30 mph.

Time is not important to me. I do not wish to drive on interstates I would rather drive at a slower pace, see the little towns and enjoy the journey I drive the speed limit or just a tad below. Thanks about the info about driving through Linden. I respect posted speed limits!

Alternatively,
US 31 to Indianapolis, 136 to Crawfordsville, 231 to Lafayette. Different set of scenery.

It took me 3 1/2 hours to drive from Jasper, IN to Lafayette. A great drive!
