You may want to try a temp agency. Today's staffing in Indianapolis deals a lot with finance and accounting jobs. They offer recruitment and temp to hire positions. Good luck.

Yes - in Fort Wayne I know Lincoln Financial is hiring. There's a few smaller financial/insurance firms hiring as well.
To the OP - the real scoop is that there are jobs available in Fort Wayne for particular industries (Healthcare and Financial Services), but otherwise there really isn't too much. This time of year though hiring is slow everywhere.
If you read about people having a hard time finding employment in Indiana it is usually a combination of 1) not having any connections with the companies they are applying to (social network connections really make a difference for Indiana-based companies), and 2) the job market is kind of slim pickings overall and if you don't have the exact skills or experience someone is looking for then you won't even land an interview with a very good resume.

Well, I hope to get some help with this because quite frankly, I think there are some great opportunities in Indiana. I think persistence is very important when seeking employment.

Good luck - as to the recruiters, remember that if YOU hire one, YOU most likely will have to give them a cut of your new found wealth. My recommendation, put your shingle [with all the appropriate catch phrases/words] on monster and the multitude of other sites, and then let the head hunters find your info and then hunt your noggin, for you, on the company's dollar.

What happened to Detroit? As you read about it, you would think it destroyed, like at the end of "planet of the apes"......are things even worse in Michigan than they were in Flint during the "roger and me" late 80's...I know things are bad there when Indiana starts looking good. Why only focus on Indiana? I would imagine far better opportunities in Chicago, the east coast, and the booming cities in Texas......Outside of Indianapolis, which isn't exactly a dynamic economy and has has a relatively low wage scale, many IN cities are either farm towns(kokomo, lafayette, terre haute), or rust belt vestiges(South Bend, Ft. Wayne, Muncie, Evansville). The "region", NW IN, has been declining for years since the Gary steel mills shut down/downsized. I would seriously open the nation up to your job search, and look a little farther than Indiana....Charlotte and environs are booming in NC as well...........

I am in the finance and insurance business and Indiana has over 179 insurance companies. That's why I'm interested in that market. I do realize however, that NC has a lot of finance/insurance too. Chicago is just too expensive.

Actually, headquarters of ins. companies are sometimes in some small, out-of-area cities, like Bloomington and Wausau....others are big in large areas, like NJ, which I believe is the headquarters of quite a few.....
