UPDATE: Thanks for all of the input. We have an offer on a modest place outside of Alexandria. I will be heading out Thursday to actually set foot in the house. I do have a 'right of refusal' contigency in the accepted offer. I will spend a couple of days bee-bopping around the area and checking on things to do. Our needs are few.

We have no kids, well they are all grown and have their own lives, and I am semi-retired. We currently have to drive 60+ miles to do any 'real' shopping, and even then its WalMart. Currently we are 10 miles from town w/ a pop of 150. Anything will be an improvement. We are used to having to drive 1.5hr to Bismarck if we need to go to Lowes, Menards, or a decent restaurant.

The place we found is a rural 'neighborhood', but close enough to the cities. A balance for the two of us. One of the reasons we migrated towards Madison county is the TRAM service, and other services/stores cities have to offer. I've looked at HUNDREDS++ of places from Bloomington, to Martinsville, to Crawfordsville, To Greenwood, and now Anderson-ish. Also, it puts us a few hours drive from my wife's kids, family, and friends in Canada - one of the reason we chose IN. Currently a 20+ hour drive, or very $$$ plane ticket.

So, I will find out for myself what the place is like. If it sucks, then we start the search anew. I'll keep y'all posted.

Thanks again, and Merry Christmas!!
