Default Brown County towns close to Bloomington...

We are thinking about coming for a visit and we are considering staying in the Brown Cty area while checking out Bloomington. Thinking of renting a cabin or house for a few days. Which town is nicest and close to Bloomington? Would Belmont be THE town? Nashville looks nice, but kind of far. Any recs?? Tia

Nashville isn't that far actually. It's kind of Brown County central ... 30 or so minutes out of Bloomington. Why not just stay in Bloomington? There's a nice resort out at Lake Monroe just outside Bloomington... Four Winds??? Or something like that.

domergurl is right. Nashville isn't that far from Bloomington. I know there are a couple of campgrounds not far from my house in Monroe County that have rental cabins. I also know there are some rental cabins near Lake Lemon in Monroe County.

The only town I "really" know in Brown County is Nashville. I've heard of Belmont, but know nothing about it. From what I do know about the area, you would probably be driving into Nashville or Bloomington for restaurants, etc. anyway.

The most famous thing in Belmont is John Mellencamp.

Hi To South Texas. I've Traveled To Bloomington Lots. There Are Several
Places Even Before You Get To Belmont That Have Motels, Cabins, Others Are Right About Nashville, Too. Belmont Is Just Before You Get To Blmton.
It Is A Curvy But Nice Drive. My Daughter Lives In Brown County, Close To
Grandview Lake. Thanks For Listening, New Member, Kamp Kitty.

If I were you, I would check into renting a cabin in the Brown County Park. If you go to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources website, you can find the rentals there. Also, there is rental company called Hills O'Brown that rents homes by the night.

Belmont is VERY small, you blink and you passed it. I would stick with Nasville.
