Thanks all. What parts of Columbus would be a nice lower middle class area? I am sure there are parts of town that are safe than others as in all cities. We love to walk to parks, go to the library and go to a city swim center of some sort. Thanks. It is so hard to get the facts from stats alone hence the seeking out info from people who actually live or frequent there. I love City Data.

I found another site called homefacts and it lists Edinburgh Indiana as moderate for crime. But it shows property crime as the biggest influence. Another poster said the rentals will be hard to come by in Edinburgh and costs to purchase may be higher than surrounding areas. My husband currently commutes about 40 min, but would like to cut that commute time in 1/2. He will be working near the outlet mall.
thanks

Move to Columbus.

Seriously. We have a large home school community and there are plenty of middle class areas. We have everything from multi-million dollar homes to starter homes in good neighborhoods.

Another thing to think about in regard to Edinburgh is Camp Atterbery. It is now a Joint Forces Training Center. My wife had a coworker who lived in Edinburgh. Unless you like the sound of artillery at 2 in the morning I would honestly look some where else. My wife's coworker actually enjoyed it but at the least you should know about it.
