BRAlum is on a distinguished road
Hello All,

After joining the Army 22+ years ago and vowing never to go back, I find myself missing the simpleness and easy-going way of life. I grew up in rural Daviess County and miss the fresh smell of spring and all the changes that come with autumn.

How much would you say one truly needs to live in S. IN? Near the 'Ville. I'm looking to relocate from WI - it's fairly expensive living here - clean and wonderful, but costly. I'm a single gal w/ a pup - would love to find an older house (rental for a year or so), preferably with a real fence.

Btw... are there a lot of mosquitos there? There's one here tonight that's just buzzing and buzzing and (!) - Got it!

Okay... anyone? What would be the cost of living (COL) say, in a place like New Albany? And what are some other older areas (where the homes are around 100 years old or more)?

Also... please - is the rivalry between S. IN and KY "real" or a friendly rivalry? Like... if I lived in S. IN would ppl be less likely to hire me if I tried to find work in KY? (And v.v.)

Okay - I have a lot of questions and am planning on making a trip down this next weekend, but I should probably stop there - and see what replies I might receive.

Thank you!

Lol! I grew up in the South, transferred Upper Midwest, then Upper PAC, back to the Midwest, now looking at S. IN/KY area... I love the ppl of the South, but I wouldn't trade all the snow in the U.P. for the snakes, spiders, bugs, humidity (although I hear it's quite hot for summers there), and other pests. Making a trip down soon... will have to see how I fare in the heat of the summer there.
