That style of music is what Indiana is all about. It's a mix of Rock and Country. Part cowboy with a lot more attitude. John also donates millions to charity in Indiana. Helping out his "peoples". He's widely regarded as an old favorite and a gold standard. CCR is very popular with Hoosiers. They identify with his music.

That's the same type of sound. Easily identified with and by Hoosiers!

I don't relate to it. Oh well, stitch the word Hoosiers to your bibbed overalls and jam some CCR; I will leave you alone to your jams good sir or mam.

Since CCR originated in California, does that mean that Californians relate well to bayous??

I don't think Californians even fully understood what John was singing about. Sure the songs were catchy, but do they understand them? Not really! IMO Hoosiers do though. So much so, John had to get himself a wife from Elkhart IN. Not only does she love him, most Hoosiers do too.

Well, remember that at the time CCR was on the scene folks all over were dropping acid.

Your perception of the musical tastes of Hoosiers vis-a-vis the rest of country, I believe, is skewed by your own tastes. That said, I was inspired to listen to a little CCR on my IPod last night. Enjoy.

I thought "Born on the Bayou" was California's state song.

Oh, I don't know. Bob Seger is another good one. So is Ted Nugent. Tom Petty is one more. MANY people don't "get it". You had/have to be/been there! Fred Bear blasting out of a 4X4 or this..... A New Yowker or SoCal has NOTHING in common with it!

Yuppers, blame our lovely Prez and the rest of the total idiots in Washington....ooooh *steamed* don't get me started! I don't think this nation has ever had such a hopeless attitude before, not within my lifetime and prolly not even for ages before that. Maybe during the Great Depression...but hey, at least I bet people were less rude and more caring in general, back then!

LOL, how did you know that's exactly how I'm living? It is VERY tough to be upbeat when I know I'm stuck working my little hinder off for a fast food joint till I'm too old to function anymore... Friendly? I got in trouble with the district manager just for trying my best to be nice and hospitable to customers. Now they've got me scared to speak to anyone anymore. I'm just a cleaner but I've been in the public eye for a long time. No probs up till now. Work my butt off but it's never enough. I keep thinking "I thought these places were supposed to be all nice and happy and friendly," but, guess what. Maybe it's due to the hatefulness of society, AND, remember how paranoid people are getting to be! And that's typical even in our beloved State of Indiana (to bring this around to the original topic).

Yep, even in SOUTHERN Indiana (y'awl!) we have forgotten old-fashioned sincere friendliness, caring and hospitality. It's been pushed aside in favor of the old "every man for himself!" mindset, if you reach out and give someone else a helping hand, are you gonna have enough money left over to buy groceries and also gasoline to get to and from your crummy little minimum wage job at the greasy-spoon... ? Not to mention paying for electricity which is also going up every year...

Well after just living on the beautiful California central coast for about 6 months and moving back to Indiana (job layoff go figure), I have a few new comments. First off about 90% of the people I made friends with could never remember if I was from Indiana, Illinois Iowa or Ohio. The stereotype is that the entire rust belt is all the same, which I guess is somewhat true. I even had a girl ask me if Indiana was close to New York. Lol.
