I haven't heard about them letting teachers go yet. If I recall correctly, during the dark ages, when I did some student teaching in B-ton, teachers were worried every spring. It seemed that a certain number of teachers always got a pink slip because the union agreement required it be sent out before a certain date. Many were not let go in the end, but it was an annual thing.

Default Social Work positions hard to come by in Bloomington

Unfortunately, due to Medicaid/Medicare challenges in Indiana, MSWs are having a difficult time finding positions. I am grateful, as an MSW, to have a steady position. However, I just hired a licensed teacher at $9.50 an hour to be my administrative assistant. I love this town. It's where I want to raise my children, but I know a large number of unemployed or underemployed teachers and social workers. I wish you the best.

The quality of the schools is not as high, but it is very close to the area and would still allow you to enjoy living in Bloomington
