I would like to go to Ft. Myers, Fl without going through the mountains and bypassing 465 in Indianpolis. If I started in Ohio is there a way possible? I know that it will add about 6 hours but I really don't like the mountains or 465.

Stay on 65 straight through Indy...all the way to Montgomery, AL, take 231 south to I-10 east to I-75 south.

If OP is starting in Ohio, how exactly will OP start and stay on 65?

Since the op didn't state "where" in Ohio s/he would be starting from, and s/he wants to avoid 465 in Indianapolis, I'm guessing s/he will be starting in Northwest Ohio, probably less than 50 miles from Ft Wayne. If that's the case, the op could take State Highway 3 out of Ft Wayne to a couple of miles just east of Scottsburg, and get on Interstate 65 there in Scottsburg, just north of Louisville.

Whenever we would go to Louisville from Muncie, we'd almost always take Hwy 3. It's pretty much a straight shot from Muncie than going 69 to Indy and then 465 to 65. It's also about 20 miles closer and also a shorter drive time-wise.

You'll still hit mountains/hills in Middle Tennessee. The grade at Cross Plains, TN is especially dangerous.

To avoid 465 if you're coming down on I-69, get off on IN 9 at Pendelton, take it south to Shelbyville, and take 44 west to I-65. That will bypass all of Indy and its suburbia.

TT....if you read the Ohio question as hypothetical as I did, and looked at the OP's bio, you'd understand my response....but... there are multiple routes. One would be to head SW to hit 65 at Lafeyette, but if the desire is to avoid Indy altogether, then SWOH has outlined a good solution.
