I've met several people who work in Seymour and live in Columbus.

Just met another!
Columbus is few miles up the interstate, but it's as if you traveled to a different world IMO. I like the diversity, vibe and schools much better in Columbus. I have lived and worked (IN DNR) in rural parts of Jackson county and enjoyed the solitude, but Seymour itself never held any interest for me.
Good luck!

No problem Clarence.
I live at a place called Tipton Lakes, which is pretty close to the Columbus I-65 exit (exit 68). This puts me SW of Columbus proper, and very convenient for quick travel to Seymour. Distance to the job (Freeman Field industrial park) is 23 miles, and about as easy a commute as you could want. Obviously if you lived in the "city", commute times would be a bit longer/ more traffic to deal with going south to Seymour. As DG said, a lot of folks do this commute, and it seems a good trade-off. I know of, or have known of at least 7 just from TL who have.
Looks like Seymour is getting a new plastics plant, the area seems to be growing, and housing costs/taxes will probably be more reasonable there as compared to Columbus. Please private message me if you might like some more detailed information.
Good luck!

im from Seymour. Not a bad area. Its basically right between Indy &Lville. If youre used to big cities, you'll be bored to death. Columbus is 15 minutes down the road, which has alot more to offer, but is more costly real estate wise. Seymour is far from diverse!! Theres 1 movie theater, very few shopping stores. Walmart basically is the town..,lol.The nicer restaurants are Applebees, Chilis, &Tumbleweeds. There's a few bars here and there, but I wouldnt go as far as to call them clubs!! The town is growing a little more each year (even got a Starbucks last year!!!)and is a good place to raise children. Hope this helps!

Sounds strange that I would know this, but Brownstown Central is an outstanding school district just to the west of Seymour.
