honestly ... I talk to them. They were droopy and sad when we moved in. I started watering and, I know, I know ... I'm a stinking weirdo, but I talked to them and they bloomed the following spring, on my daughter's birthday no less!

That isn't weird at all they just needed love then. I'm going to give ours a shot of Miracle Grow this weekend while we are doing yard work I think. Need to cut out some dead canes in them too. They were huge when I was growing up we use to use them for playhouses.

you think so? thanks man! I'll be a mulching mama next Friday ... you'll probably be able to smell me from your computers. I'm getting what's called "living mulch" this year. It's bark mulch mixed with compost.
