South Bend's gains and successes rely heavily on Notre Dame. I'm not sure what kind of shape South Bend would be in without the University, but it would not be nearly as relevant. South Bend is poised to post its first population growth in about 20 years also.

Yes, over 50 years ago. South Bend was hit hard when Studebaker closed up, if it wasn't for Notre Dame the city would have been hit harder and the recovery might not have happened.
