Why is housing is so cheap in Muncie? I'm talking like 4-bedroom single family houses for under $50,000. In my mind, a house that cheap in America must either be run down, completely isolated, or in a gangland ghetto. But they look good from the pictures. I know nothing of Muncie (or Indiana for that matter) so what gives? Is Muncie a paradise that Californians have not yet discovered?

Houses that cheap in Muncie, even if in good condition, are not necessarily in a better area. My mother lives in a two bedroom, very small house, that is worth more than that, and her house needs tons of "cosmetic" work. I don't know where you were looking, but most housing around here, in the "better" neighborhoods, are in the $100,000+ range, which is still cheap compared to some states.
