Info on schools
Relocating to West Lafayette/Lafayette area from Milwaukee. Can anyone give info on which elementary/middle school has the best reputation in dealing with special needs children. Our 9 yo son has Autism (Asperger's Syndrome) as well as ADHD and we would like to make sure we get him into a school which can provide the best services for his needs. He requires speech/language, OT and lots of help staying on task. He has an IEP and we would be needing a school/teachers who are knowledgeable and willing to follow this plan to the max. I'm not as concerned over a schools' high testing scores as I am finding one that he will feel comfortable in and one where he could possibly be pretty much with the same kids as he moves up in grade. Change is very difficult for him as it is with most Asperger's kids and this move will be a real challenge for us all. We want to make things as painless as possible for him. We will also be looking into setting up in-home ABA Therapy for him ASAP, if anyone knows individuals with experience with that.
Possibly 3-4 times per week after school hours. Thanks for any info/advice you can give.
