Yep,...all of you stay safe and dry. The picture on the front page of the Herald Times this morning was of Martinsville. Absolutely stunning to see 37 underwater. I'll stay stranded here in Bloomington for now and prepare for it to hit our creeks today.
It's kind of hard to figure out if the road updates are current. Indy Star says 37 is now open, but who knows.

Hope you all are staying safe. My mom, sister and her children got stranded on I70 trying to come home from my niece's hs softball tournament. They closed I70 shortly after they got onto it. They spent a lot of time outside their cars, then about two hours being detoured along with about 2 miles of traffic. A normal 3 hour trip from Indy to E-ville took them a little over eight hours. They rescheduled the semi-state and state games for Monday, but I doubt that's going to happen.
Hope everyone is safe and is careful getting around town!

I just heard about the flood, and I'm so sorry for those of you affected by it. It happened two days after we left Bloomington. My husband and I wish you all the best.

I can't beleive the dumb, dumbs that keep trying to cross moving water, My wife just told me tonight that a friend of her friend that we have met a couple of times a woman in her mid 40's decided friday to try to drive through some water that she didn't think was to deep but was moving and of course her car got swept off into the creek, she was able to get her window down and crawl out and get a hold on a tree before her car was swept under and away by the water. Of course her little dog a little fu fu dog about 10 pounds was not able to get out of the back window, and she was on her way home with her groceries, of which she of course lost also. I mean really, how many times does the news have to tell people stay out of water crossing the road!!

FWIW - I just came back from MO tonight via I70. Was kinda frustrated that could not get any decent updates as to if the interstate was open or not... Had called the 800 number, but there was no means to determine when [date/time] that the prerecorded messages where made, and no mention at all of highways being closed! To add insult to injury, the durn message says "go to our web site blah blah blah for further detailed info". Like most people have access to i'net while driving??? I sure don't - so called my folks, and they couldn't find anything updated either. Anyhow, at ~8:30 pm tonight, the west bound lanes of I70 were still closed, traffic being diverted onto US40 at mile marker 41, while us going east had both lanes all good. Saw where the water had damaged section of the pavement, which the road crew appeared to had just completed patching. Hope all others are doing good.

Holy Mary Mother of God!!!
Columbus is WRECKED!!! Our hospital is shut down indefinitely. It was really eerie on Saturday night because all we heard were helicopters hauling patients out. I guess every air ambulance in the area, if not the state was called into action for us ... North High and North Middle Schools are packed with displaced residents ... some were at East High School and had to evacuate from there because now East has water in their gym.
Our electricity was shut off around 8pm on Saturday night and didn't come back on until 7am yesterday ... hot isn't the word!!! Couldn't make any phone calls, even my cell phone didn't work. Just had my little battery operated radio. Thank goodness Columbus has a radio station, but the dj's were'nt getting any information either, but it was nice to hear voices reassuring that it was everywhere. Just got back on our computer ... much catching up to do here. Gotta figure out how to get places because roads are closed and there are only a few authorized entrances and exits into and out of town. Yow, Columbus is a flooded island right now. Fortunately, our neighborhood us on higher ground. There was some flooding down the street, but it subsided quickly.
I guess there are many people who lost everything. This is a good time to go through my closets and pantry to lend a hand.
I'm taking my camera out today. The pictures in the paper were heartbreaking. Gotta go put a big pot of water on the cooker to boil for the day's activities ... should turn off my icemaker eh?
Between the water receeding and all the crap that is left behind to bake in this 90+ degree heat ... not looking forward to the stink that is going to be happening in the next few days.

Domergurl, glad to hear from you. We are just trying to get info on offices and employees in our post of duties. Some very trying stories of driving to work.
This one is going to take a long time to clear. I really felt so sorry for those trailer park residents. Total losses and looks like everything from housing to cars.
Haven't heard much from Red Cross but it may be a little early.
