Default Flooding

Hope all are in good shape. Crazy pictures on TV right now. I70 and I65 closed. We went on our normal shopping Saturday morning because garage sales were cancelled. Between arriving and doing shopping at Sams Club and Walmart, we had to backtrack to get on a road that was not flooded. 31 was touch and go every dip in the road for our Civic.

I dont remember flooding like this and so far a good thing no injuries or deaths. Stay away from that water.

Amazing. Saw that I-70 is closed between Terra Haute [IN 46, exit 11] and Cloverdale [US 231, exit 41] - distance of 30 miles. Imagine that US40 has major amount of traffic upon it. Wonder if there is an alternative route to travel, especially if heading East on I70 tomorrow, Sunday? Have a friend wanting to go from Effingham, IL to the Fort Wayne, IN area. Any suggestions? So glad that no one has been seriously injured, according the reports have seen here from Missouri. Quite the photos shown here: Submitted flood photos | IndyStar.com gallery | The Indianapolis Star

One thing you don't expect to read is that the Coast Guard is coming to IN to help... great to have these wonderful people, along with all the other peoples, helping in such times. Hat off to you all!

It's pretty intense down here right now. I'd like to take my camera out, but I'm afraid that I'll get stranded!!!

The paper said 40 is the alternate route to I70. No estimate when repaired because of high water and damage to the road itself. Seems more than just overtopped, but the roadbed itself may have been seriously damaged.

40 is said to be heavily congested. Imagine all the traffic that is trying to use it.

Here is this news article on the conditions: Major flooding: I-70, I-65 closed | IndyStar.com | The Indianapolis Star

But, kind of frustrating to not quickly see something in regards to status on an 'official' gov't site. Least I've not found one in quick search as yet. For example, this ISP: Road Conditions hasn't been updated in weeks!

Yes, its quite amazing the lack of easy-to-find news and updates regarding the highway conditions, or exactly what is going on, where.

Have just now found the following: WTHI TV 10 - Terre Haute Weather and News |Flood Damage Updates

Media says to call the state police but I can imagine their site is quite overwhelmed.

Columbus helicopter views this morning shows lots of water around homes located near any water source. Franklin ditto. Columbus Regional Hospital had to evacuate. They moved 100 patients with National Guard. Shelters set up all over.

Parts of Martinsville still underwater. Big apartment complexes showing up in many updates. One Pilot Truck Stop at Harding flooded, picture in the newspaper.

Please everyone help Lil Bit of Heaven Animal Shelter. Flooded and rescuing the dogs now.

More rain in the north expected Monday.
