Hear the sounds of whoops and cries and cannons and firearms as the battle rages on the banks and nearby fields of the Mississinewa River, during the largest reenactment of the Battle of 1812.

Went last year, and was amazed - great people, food, etc. Just sad regarding the reminder of treatment of the Native Americans... but, that is another thread, another time.  As to this event, it is noteworthy and quite historically accurate. Be prepared for a large crowd if going - wear comfortable shoes, outdoor style.

Don't miss the Shoals Catfish Festival over the 4th of July!! It's a good time, good food (catfish), a great parade and what can arguably be called the best fireworks in southern IN! Y'all come!

"Circus City Days"
The third week in July, the entire town of Peru shuts down for a week! The main roads are blocked and the city is transformed into fair! There is are live performances from the Peru City Circus every night and the 3rd longest parade in the state to close it all up on Saturday!

Putnam County 4-H Fair in Greencastle, July 18-25, the same week is also the Hendricks County 4-H Fair, just 20 minutes away and for the most part much cleaner and with far better rides, IMNSHO
